Upon the arrival of Rev. Dr. Charley Hames, Jr., in 2003 our newly appointed pastor had a vision of BMC becoming a venue renowned for talenteded and inspirational Christ-centered artists. He saw a need to bring a greater awareness to the Oakland Bay Area about the richness of BMC as well as create an atmosphere for Christians that allowed them to sing praises unto the Lord as they were entertained through Christian comedians, psalmists, and gospel recording artists. He sought to bring crowds into the spacious 1400 seat sanctuary and fill it to the capacity outside of worship service on Sundays. As such, The BMC Special Events Ministry was created to benefit the local church, the CME denomination and the general Christian community by adding to the kingdom of God, through creative methods of praise and worship.

We’ve had the pleasure and honor to host Grammy nominated recording artists, nationally televised Christian Comedians, legendary gospel pioneers and up and coming local talent. Since 2004, we’ve hosted Smokie Norful for 3 stellar sell out performances. In 2005 Vicky Winans ministered to our spirits through song and comedy and as we closed out the 2006 year, Donald Lawrence and the Tri City Singers performed their Finale tour to standing room only sold out event. We began 2007 with phenomenal ministry that included the Legendary Grammy nominated Caravans!
