WHAT IS MINISTRY?

DEFINITION: (Greek "diakonos" - "to serve")

"Ministry is using whatever god has given me to serve him and the needs of others"

What God made me to BE determines what He intends for me to DO. I will understand the purpose I was created for when I understand the kind of person I am. This is the secret of knowing God's will for my life!

God is consistent in His plan for each of our lives. He would not give us inborn talents and temperaments, spiritual gifts, and all sorts of life experiences and then not use them! By reviewing and studying these factors, we can discover the ministry He has for us... the unique way God intends for us to serve Him.

Membership and maturity are prerequisites to ministry. Therefore we require class attendance and commitment to these two areas before serving through Beebe Memorial Cathedral.

STEWARDS

The stewards are elected officers whose primary duty is to manage the resources of the entire church body. Being persons of solid piety who know, love and practice the Word of God, they utilize their natural and acquired abilities to transact the temporal business of the church and lend support to the needy and distressed by seeking them out and providing for them.

TRUSTEES

The trustees are elected officers of the church that have the primary responsibility to for the upkeep of the properties of the church and also to lead the church in property acquisitions while maintaining the current properties in an excellent manner.

STEWARDESSES

The Stewardess ministry is an established ministry of true servant hood. Their primary focus is to serve three tables of the ministry. (1) Serve the table of the Lord; (2) Serve the table of the Poor (3) the table of the Pastor.

USHERS

The ushers are often the first link both members and visitors have to the worship experience. Their duties include admitting people to the house of worship, attending to their comfort while they are therein, and ensuring all are surrounded with a warm, welcoming and loving atmosphere.

WOMEN’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY

The Women’s Missionary Society supports both the church body and the local community. Utilizing their gifts to encourage the spreading of the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, they study the needs of society in order to aid in the development of programs, people, processes and resources to benefit the community at large.

The Beebe Memorial Cathedral Scholarship Ministry

The Beebe Memorial Cathedral Scholarship Ministry has been established to help deserving graduating seniors and those continuing to carry on their education in institutions of higher learning. The purpose of the ministry is to provide qualifying students with financial assistance towards their education.

Scholarship awardees are based on a preference given to students who are active members of, or whose parents attend BMC, the recipients must demonstrate evidence of public service and participating in church activities, and a minimum 2.75 high school GPA.

Prayer Warriors

The team that prays for and follows up on every specific prayer request that comes through the registration cards. They coordinate all church prayer chains and prayer events.

Audio/Visual Ministry

This ministry provides either those who miss a weekend, or someone who lives out of the area a chance to get the service by coordinating and producing all the audio-visual tapes.

Super Seniors

Every Wednesday (except the 4th Wednesday) from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. This is a support group for seniors ages 65 and up. Every week they discuss issues facing seniors, have group exercise, and serve lunch. Every month they have a different theme or special topic and invite guest speakers. They also go on a variety of trips, and visit the sick and shut in.

B.O.B.C.A.T.S. (Beating the Odds Against Breast Cancer and Telling the Story)

Bobcats is a support group for survivors of Breast Cancer. They come together to support each other, share testimonies, and most importantly educate women and men about breast cancer.
